THE HOPE INDEX
On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being good, how hopeful are you about the future?
Marty Trent from Bergen County, New Jersey with his son Paul at Central Park's Strawberry Fields on December 8, 2015, the 35th anniversary of John Lennon's death.
"I'll tell you it's below 5. I just don't like what I see. But you go back to the late 60's, my parents didn't like what they saw. That was a very tumultuous time in American history and world history. So it could rebound back to a more stable situation, but we have to leave it for the most part up to our leaders to guide us through the tough times."
Pastor Jan Vezikov with Mosaic Boston following Christmas Eve service held at his church in the basement of a temple in Brookline, Massachusetts.
"10. Honestly. When I think of hope, the scripture talks about being anchored. It's an anchor and it's not just a sail where you go with the wind depending on what whimsical hopes are offered at that time in life. It's anchored, you’re not going anywhere, there’s a bedrock, there's a foundation. It's true hope that’s laid up for us in heaven and it's proven to us with the resurrection of Christ."
Eleanor Noell from Chapel Hill, North Carolina taking a break on her morning jog in Central Park on New Year's Eve, 2015.
"7 because I’m still optimistic and think of the good.
I hope to have an amazing marriage and that’s my personal hope. My hope for the world is trump oersn’t end up in office and we don’t have any terrorists attacks."
